Ambassador Darlington Mwape
Ambassador Darlington Mwape is a lawyer, diplomat, and international trade advisor with more than 30 years of experience across law, diplomacy, trade policy, and dispute resolution.
A dual citizen of Zambia and the Kingdom of Eswatini, Ambassador Mwape served as legal advisor to two Presidents of Zambia before being appointed Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.
During his diplomatic service, he led and participated in significant trade and intellectual property negotiations and presided over major international trade matters, including the WTO dispute commonly known as China – Rare Earths.
Ambassador Mwape now serves as Principal Consultant to the African Continental Free Trade Area on matters related to its dispute settlement mechanism. He was also appointed to a group of African eminent trade experts supporting implementation of the AfCFTA.
In addition, he serves as country representative for Africa Finance Corporation in Zambia and the Kingdom of Eswatini, with a mandate to support capital raising and regional engagement.
